the sound of paper
How does paper sound like?
The installation explores what the different kind of paper sound like by creating paper vinyl samples and later playing them on a turntable.
The sounds being generated are the result of different textures, patterns, thicknesses and other variables that define this familiar yet surprising material. In addition, specific frequencies are isolated, amplified and processed by using various effects which generate and add tones to the audio track.
The exploration plays both with digital and analog aspects of paper in a cohesive way. Besides touch, one more of our senses has been engaged and amplified while handling paper: the sense of hearing.
